Tell your story: TRMC video project honors cancer survivors

Troy Regional Medical Center is providing an opportunity to recognize loved ones who are cancer survivors on Sunday, June 7, “National Cancer Survivor’s Day.

The first Sunday is June is an annual acknowledgment that life after a cancer diagnosis can be a reality. Karen Herring, TRMC marketing, said, in celebration of National Cancer Survivor’s Day, TRMC is requesting short statements about and photos off cancer survivors to include in this tribute on their special day.

“Troy Regional Medical Center has a great video on our Facebook page requesting short statements and photos of cancer survivors that we know and love,” Herring said. “And, it simple to include your loved one.  Just include a few sentences about the cancer survivor who is special to you and a photo to:

Herring said all of the information received will be compiled and made into a video to be posted on the TRMC website and facebook page on Sunday.

June 7, 2020, marks the 33rd annual National Cancer Survivors Day Celebration of Life – the day set aside each year to recognize cancer survivors, raise awareness of the ongoing challenges cancer survivors face because of their disease, and celebrate life.

With nearly 17 million people living with and beyond cancer in the U.S. today, and more than 32 million cancer survivors worldwide, everyone knows someone whose life has been touched by cancer. On Sunday, people around the world will come together to acknowledge these cancer survivors, and to raise awareness of the challenges of cancer survivorship.
