Council OKs election workers

The Brundidge City Council met Tuesday night and considered the proposed election officials up for the city municipal election date August 25, 2020.
The council approved the election officials and their offices for the election. Those approved were: Myron Jones, District 1, inspector; Cynthia Bailey, District 3, registration list clerk; Barbara Holman, District 1, poll list clerk, Earnestine Beacham, District 2, ballot clerk; Lois Arnett, District 3, ballot clerk; Dessiree Pickekett, District 5, ballot clerk; Carter Davenport, District 5, ballot clerk; Patsy Sutton, District 3, ballot clerk; and LaFaye Hobdy, District 4, clerk.
Alternates for the August 25, 2020 election are Charlene Jones, District 1; Joshua Kauffmann, District 1 and Lynn Sutton, District 2.
In other business, the council considered a request by Charlie Harris to rent Galloway Park in District 1 for the purpose of holding a political forum. Betty Baxter, District 1 council member, recommended the request be denied due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The council denied the request as recommended. The city’s rental buildings remain closed due to the coronavirus.
The council reviewed the city’s financials, which are on track with the city’s budget, said Linda Faust, administrative assistant.
The Brundidge City Council meets at 6 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at Brundidge City Hall on North Main Street. The meetings are open to the public. Social distancing and masks are required.
