Mr. Joe E. Stephens a resident of Troy, AL passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at Troy Regional Medical Center. He was 91.
Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2020, at Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Mark Stephens officiating. Burial followed in Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing.
Mr. Stephens was born May 18, 1929 in Pike County to the late Grady Stephens and Mildred Ellis Stephens. He served our country in the U. S. Army and was a computer operator for the U.S. Government. Mr. Stephens was also a member of Park Memorial United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne Dykes Stephens, brother, Grady Carl Stephens, son, Donald Stephens, stepson, Joseph R. Capps, Jr and a brother-in-law, Charles Caneer.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Stephens, Troy; son, Wendell Stephens (Donna), Troy; grandchildren, Ivey Jones (Klien), Troy, and Amy Hixon (Ross), Banks; great grandchild, Brook Hixon, Banks; grandchild, Gabbi Capps, Troy; step daughter, Delany Capps Brooks (Lindsey), Troy; sisters, Julia Harmon and Gloria Caneer both of Huntsville; brother, Jack Stephens (Nora), Huntsville; sister-in-law, Judy Stephens, Troy, and his beloved pet Petie.
