Pike County added 15 new cases of COVID-19 overnight Wednesday, bringing the county’s total to 687 cases since tracking began.

The state added 1,626 new cases, bringing the total to 93,402.

The state increase follows two days of below-1,000 new cases, according to the Alabama Department of Public Health daily updates.

As of the 10 a.m. Thursday update, more than 1,575 people were hospitalized statewide and more than 11,310 have been hospitalized since March. More than 1,650 people have died statewide and 37,923 are presumed recovered.

Thursday’s update brings the 7-day average for new cases to 1,415 statewide and the 14-day percentage for positive cases to 12.33. More than 20,150 cases have been confirmed in the past 14 days statewide.

Pike County’s 14-day positive rate is 10.37 percent.

The county remains in the high risk category according to ADPH, with assessments based on the rate of spread through the previous Saturday. The assessment should be updated by ADPH on Friday.
