Police will seek autopsies on the two men who died today after an early morning parking lot shootout.
“Their identities will be released later,” said Troy Police Chief Randall Barr.
No arrests had been made as of 3:30 p.m. Saturday
Five people were shot during the incident, which took place about 2 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the Pike County Cattleman’s Complex, located in the 12,000 block of U.S. 231 South.
“Officers were dispatched to assist with dispersing a large crowd,” Police Chief Randall Barr said in a statement. “As the officers were enroute, multiple shots were fired in the parking lot of the complex.”
Bystander video (see below) records more than 50 shots being fired.
“When officers arrived, they located two victims on the scene,” Barr’s statement said. One victim was transported to a Dothan hospital with life threatening injuries; another to Troy Regional Medical Center.
“Three additional victims were transported by private vehicle to Troy Regional,” Barr said. “One of those victims died at the hospital, one was transferred to a Montgomery hospital in critical condition, and the other was treated at the emergency room.”
Barr confirmed that one of the hospitalized victims had died around 11:50 a.m. Saturday.
Police did not release any information about the victims, citing the ongoing investigation.
“This is a large crime scene and there were a lot of people on scene when the shooting took place,” Barr said. “Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Troy Police Department at 334-566-0500 or the secret witness line at 334-566-5555.”
We will update as information is available.
