Ariton knocks off Dale County for season’s first win

The Ariton Purple Cats tallied over 500 yards in their 25-13 win over Dale County in the 2020 season opener in Ariton.

The two teams have now met in three-straight season openers. This was Ariton’s first win during that time frame.

The Eagles tallied 519 yards on Friday night, 296 yards came through the air. Quarterback Ian Senn completed 20 of his 27 passes for 294 yards. Hayes Floyd had six catches for 108 yards, while Cade Webb had seven catches for 100 yards.

On the ground, the Purple Cats tallied 223 yards rushing by led by Jordan Smith, who finished with 93 yards on eight carries. Senn finished with 36 yards on eight carries.

The Purple Cats scored a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter beginning with a 12-yard touchdown run by Senn. Senn later completed a touchdown pass to Isaiah Johnson.

In the second quarter, Senn connected with Webb for a 35-yard touchdown. The Purple Cats scored their final touchdown on a 20-yard reception by Landon Thrash.
