Ariton knocks off Houston Co.

The Ariton Purple Cats football team (2-1) won 35-20 against the Houston County Lions on Friday night in Ariton.
The Purple Cats recorded 295 total yards of offense, with 177 through the air, and 118 on the ground.
Ariton quarterback Ian Senn completed all 4 of his passing attempts for a total of 99 yards and two touchdowns.
Cade Webb recorded 2 catches for 49 yards and had one touchdown. Landon Thrash also recorded 2 touchdowns for 44 yards and one touchdown. Isaiah Johnson completed one catch for 40 yards and one touchdown.
The Purple Cat’s ground team was led by Hayes Floyd, who carried the ball 3 times for 38 yards and one touchdown. Landon Thrash carried the ball 6 times for 36 yards.
The Purple Cats scored 28 points in the first quarter, and 7 points in the second quarter, but were shutout in the next two quarters. After being shutout the first half, the Lions scored 7 points in the third quarter and 13 points in the fourth quarter.
Ian Senn was credited with 2 touchdowns, while Hayes Floyd, Cade Webb, Landon Thrash, and Isaiah Johnson all scored one touchdown each.
Christian Junghans led the Purple Cats with eight tackles. Trevor McLaughlin and Dewayne Riley each finished with seven.
The Purple Cats will be back in action next week when they travel to play Geneva County.
