Craig Slocum, a junior safety for the Troy Trojans, was named to the Pro Football Focus National Team of the Week after his efforts in Troy’s 47-14 win against Middle Tennessee last weekend.

Slocomb, a Lake Butler, Fla., native and a former walk-on, received his athletic scholarship on the first day of fall camp. In the game, he was credited with one intercepted pass and three tackles by PFF.

This game was Slocomb’s first career start, and he played 31 snaps to help the Trojans limit Middle Tennessee to just 241 yard of total offense, the fewest the team has put up against an FBS opponent since 2017.

Slocomb ended with an overall 91.5 grade and a 90.5 coverage grade after he allowed just one completion on two targets. He intercepted and returned an Asher O’Hara pass in the second quarter for a touchdown, but the TD was called back after O’Hara caused an unavoidable collision with Troy’s Carlton Marital during the play.
