The Sun Belt Conference announced the women’s basketball conference slate for the 2020-21 season Thursday afternoon.

For the first time since the 2011-12 season, the league will play a 16-game conference schedule, with the Trojans playing seven of those games inside Trojan Arena.

Troy, the defending Sun Belt Champions, will play both home and away games against Georgia Southern, Georgia State, App State, Coastal Carolina and South Alabama. The Trojans will travel to ULM, Louisiana, Texas State and UT Arlington for one game while hosting Little Rock and Arkansas State for their lone meeting of the season.

The Trojans will open the new year playing six of their first eight games away from Trojan Arena with opening night being Dec. 31 at ULM. Following their New Year’s Eve Bash in Monroe, Troy will play at Louisiana, Texas State and UTA before hosting its first conference home weekend against Georgia Southern and Georgia State.

After traveling to Coastal Carolina and App State, Troy will close out the month of January at home with a Saturday contest against in-state rival, South Alabama.

The Trojans will host Little Rock and Arkansas State at the beginning of February before traveling to Georgia State and Georgia Southern. Troy will close out its home slate against App State and Coastal Carolina before rounding out the 2020-21 regular season in Mobile on Feb. 27.

Following the conclusion of the regular season, the Sun Belt Conference Championship will be played March 5-8 in Pensacola, Fla. The first two rounds will be split between Pensacola State College and the Bay Center Arena with the semifinals and finals being held at the Bay Center Arena. All 12 teams will make the tournament with the top four seeds earning a first round bye.

Troy finished the 2019-20 season with a program-best 25-4 overall mark and won its first-ever Sun Belt Regular Season crown with a 16-2 conference record. Last season’s championship was the program’s third title in the last five seasons.
