The Ariton Purple Cats football team (2-5), (1-3) fell 32-22 against region opponent Abbeville on Friday night at home in Ariton.
The Purple Cats recorded 291 total yards of offense, with 34 through the air, and 257 on the ground.
Ariton quarterback Ian Senn completed 5 of his 10 passing attempts for a total of 34 yards.
Landon Thrash led the receivers with 2 catches for 15 yards, while Landon Tyler had 2 catches for 7 yards.
The Purple Cat’s ground team was led by Jordan Smith, who carried the ball 22 times for 119 yards and 1 successful 2-point conversion. Zach Phillips ran the ball 7 times for 78 yards and 1 touchdown. CJ McNabb carried the ball 9 times for 43 yards, while scoring 1 touchdown and 1 successful 2-point conversion. Senn carried the ball 4 times for 16 yards and 1 touchdown.
Jackson Baker led the team with 12 tackles and 1 for loss, while CJ McNabb recorded 11 tackles. Dewayne Riley, Chase Hughes, and Landon Tyler all recorded 9 tackles each.
