Troy University is currently raising money to honor some of its most impactful student organizations.

Troy plans to honor its nine National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) groups with the NPHC Plaza, an outdoor area featuring plots and a Circle of Honor representing each organization.

NPHC is the governing body of the nine largest historically African American Greek-letter fraternities and sororities.

These organizations have made an impact on the University through civic engagement, leadership and academic achievement for decades.

“This NPHC Plaza will offer an opportunity for NPHC organizations to gather within a new outdoor area with a purpose towards community engagement and programming,” said Dr. Derrick Brewster, Associate Dean of Student Services. “The project supports one of the University’s institutional goals: to provide TROY students with the values of diversity and inclusive excellence.”

The plaza will be located near Trojan Arena and Douglas Hawkins Towers.

The current fundraising goal is $160,000, with a planned project completion date of Fall 2021.

“The NPHC Plaza has been a goal within the NPHC community since 2006, and now with its inception, it fosters the opportunity to recruit and retain new members within these organizations, thus benefiting our university overall,” Brewster said.

Donations can be made by writing a check payable to the Troy University Foundation and specifying that it is for the NPHC Plaza, along with the name of any specific organization the donor wishes to represent.
