Lady Patriots begin play in regional tournament

The Pike Liberal Arts volleyball team begins its postseason this afternoon at Glenwood. The Patriots will be one of four teams to make it to the regional in Glenwood, and one of 11 teams to make it to the regional round of the playoffs in Class AAA.

Along with the Patriots and the Gators, the Region 1 Tournament will also include Macon-East and Lee Scott Academy.

The Patriots enter the tournament with a record of 9-6.

After finishing as the second seed in their area, the Patriots will match up with host and top seed Glenwood in the days’ first match beginning at noon. They will be followed by No. 1 seed Macon-East taking on No. 2 seed Lee Scott at 2 p.m.

The two winners will meet up for the regional championship beginning at 6 p.m.

Region one started their tournament on Wednesday. Teams that advanced to Thursday include Clarke Prep, Tuscaloosa, Southern and Morgan.
