The Troy Trojans men’s basketball team has completed their work on the 2020-2021 basketball schedule.
The team released their schedule on Tuesday morning. Their schedule will include nine non-conference games and 18 conference games.
Of the nine non-conference games, three of them will be played inside Trojan Arena. Troy’s road non-conference schedule is highlighted by games against in-state rivals UAB (December 6), North Alabama (December 10) and Auburn (December 19) and Samford. They will also play on the road against Wake Forest (December 2).
Troy’s home non-conference schedule includes Middle Georgia State in the season opener on November 25, Samford on December 16 and Carver on December 28 in the non-conference finale. The Trojans will play in the Mako Medical Classic in Asheville, North Carolina against Western Carolina and North Carolina Wilmington.
“The most important thing for us this year was limiting our travel,” Cross said. “We were looking to find strong games against opponents in our region. I don’t think we’ll have to get on a plane the entire season which is important. We have a huge game against Auburn which I think depending on the crowd limitations could be really exciting for our fans. It also allows our guys to play in one of the best environments in the country, so that’s an exciting game for us. We also have some really exciting in-state games against UAB, Samford and North Alabama. UAB is a big rivalry game and should be a matchup between two very evenly matched teams. We were looking to make a balanced schedule that would prepare us for our Sun Belt schedule.”
The Trojans released their conference schedule late last month. They will open their conference schedule on the road when they head to Boone, North Carolina to take on Appalachian State on January 1 and 2.
