On Nov. 29, Troy’s Lawrence Paint and Hardware and Moseley Industrial Supply was awarded the Alabama Small Business of the Year Award.
The Business Council of Alabama (BCA), partnered with the Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama, announced its 2023 Small Businesses of the Year in Birmingham. The awards are broken down into four categories: Emerging Small Business, 1-10 Employees, 11-50 Employees and 51-100 Employees. Lawrence Paint and Hardware and Moseley Industrial Supply was awarded the Small Business of the Year Award in the 11-50 category. The BCA highlighted the company’s philanthropy – which includes support for missionaries, children in need and more – as setting it apart from other small businesses.
“I’d like to thank the Lord because through him all of these doors open for our business,” Lawrence Paint and Hardware owner JB Roberts said. “I’d like to thank our group of owners, it’s not just about JB Roberts, we have a group of owners that have bought into our vision and we’re all on the same page and work hard to do business the right way. Also, we have to thank Dana Sanders and the Chamber of Commerce for the work they did to help us win this ward and nominating us. Most importantly, it’s about our great team of employees that work hard every single day to serve the people of Pike County the right way.”
Additionally, W Walnut Cookie Company in Troy was a finalist for Small Business of the Year, as well.
“We were really honored,” W Walnut Cookie Company owner Kay Grenon said. “When we got involved with our Chamber of Commerce I didn’t know what to expect but we really have enjoyed being apart of it and the community and working with them. They wanted to nominate us for this and it made us feel really good. It validated all the hard work we put into it.”
