Area Hoops: Charles Henderson, Pike Lib earn Tuesday wins

The Charles Henderson Trojans and Lady Trojans picked up Tuesday night hoops wins over Barbour County on Dec. 5.
The Lady Trojans topped Barbour County by a score of 51-41 with Madison Ousley scoring a game-high 18 points, while Harmony Hubbard chipped in with 14 points.
The Trojans also picked up a 76-65 win over Barbour County as CHHS is 5-1 since the varsity football players rejoined the team. CHHS jumped out to 17-14 lead in the first quarter and then took control in the second quarter, taking a 41-23 lead into halftime. Barbour County clawed its way back into the game in the third quarter, outscoring the Trojans 30-16, to cut Charles Henderson’s lead to 57-53 going into the final period. Charles Henderson outscored Barbour County 19-12 in the final frame to pick up the win.
Against Barbour County, junior Zion Grady scored a career-high 19 points, while Jywon Boyd added 18 points and Bray Jones scored 14 points. Bradley Prestwood chipped in with nine points and Damien Williams scored eight points for the victorious Trojans.
The Pike Lib boys varsity also picked up a 62-35 win over Kinston. Pike jumped out to a 14-7 lead in the first quarter and held a 36-22 lead at halftime. The second half was all PLAS as the Patriots outscored Kinston 26-13 in the second half to secure a 62-35 win.
Sawyer Keck led PLAS with a season-high 23 points, while Chase DeBoer added 11 points. Jack Baggett chipped in with eight points and Will Rice scored seven points in the win.
The girls varsity team fell 53-5 to Kinston. Mary Holland Stephens and Madison Hannon scored two points each for PLAS. The junior varsity boys team also lost 36-25 to Kinston. Jackson Bowen and Bradley Shirley scored six points each for PLAS.
In other area games, Goshen’s boys lost 63-45 to New Brockton, while the Goshen girls fell 73-16 to New Brockton. Artion’s boys defeated Elba 55-34 as Ian Senn scored 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Matt McNair also chipped in with 11 points. The Ariton girls fell to Elba 54-30. Both Macileigh Bragg and Nya Allen scored seven points each in the loss.
