Teresa Fortune Garner, beloved wife and mother, passed away after a brief illness on Thursday, December 7, 2023, surrounded by her family. Visitation will be at Green Hills Funeral Home on Sunday, December 10, 2023 from 4:00-6:00pm. A chapel service will be on Monday, December 11, 2023 at 1:00pm officiated by Rev. Chuck Francisco and Rev. Doc Kirby. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Cemetery with Scott Fortune, Barry Jones, Glenn Mastrangelo, Donovan Martin, Michael Redmon, and Robert Butterfield serving as pallbearers.
Teresa, such a joyful, happy person, spent her favorite times with her family and friends. She loved animals, especially her cats, and undoubtedly deserved “Nanny of the year” for all the recitals, pageants, and ballgames she attended and video games she played with her grands, as well as going mud riding on the weekend. A native of Pike County, Teresa was employed at Troy Cleaners for a little while and at Park Memorial Pre-school too. She loved her family so much and she will be missed by all.
Survivors include her loving husband of 44 years, Terry Garner; her children, Traci Shaver (Curtiss), Dan Garner, Angie Garner, Jeff Garner (Donna); her grandchildren, Zane, Jolea, and Sophie Shaver, McKenzie and Sawyer Garner, Derek Carnley; sister, Wynell Coker; her brothers, Mike Fortune, Ricky Fortune; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She also leaves behind her close friends, Shelby Sanders, Vanessa Davis, and Betty Homyak. Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde & Sallie Mae Fortune; and her granddaughter, Sairah Garner.
The staff of Green Hills Funeral Home is honored to serve the Garner family.
