Pike Lib, Charles Henderson fall in overtime heartbreakers

On Friday night, both the Pike Liberal Arts Patriots and Charles Henderson Trojans lost overtime matchups.
The Patriots traveled to Coffee County and fell 65-64 to the Elba Tigers in overtime. Pike Lib dominated the first half, leading 33-13 at halftime, but Pike Lib came storming back to outscore the Patriots 47-27 in the second half to force overtime. Elba narrowly won the overtime period 5-4 to secure the win.
Will Rice led the Patriots with a season-high 17 points in the loss, while Jackson Mitchell added 16 points and Sawyer Keck scored 14 points. Alvin Henderson led Elba with 24 points, scoring 22 in the second half.
Charles Henderson also lost a tough one 75-72 to Bullock County. The two sides battled it out in the first half with Bullock County hanging on to a slim 31-29 lead at halftime. Charles Henderson took control of the game in the third quarter, leading 51-44 going into the final period. Bullock County managed to outscore CHHS 13-7 in the fourth to force overtime. In overtime, Bullock County squeezed out the win by outscoring the Trojans 18-14.
Jywon Boyd and Bradley Prestwood led CHHS with 18 points each, while Zion Grady added 12 points.
The Charles Henderson girls picked up a 55-40 win over Bullock County on Friday. Takeiya Brockton led CHHS with 16 points in the win, while Kamari Stroizer added a career-high 14 points.
