Burnice McLendon

Burnice McLendon, age 80, a resident of Troy, dies Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Baptist South Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023 at 2 pm from the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery in Banks with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

She is survived by her son: Andrew Michael McLendon; grandchildren: Tamara Renee McLendon, Amanda Leverett (Dustin), Alexander Michael McLendon (Amanda); great grandchildren: Abbigail Nobles, Brady Leverett, John Leverett, Anna Leverett; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Oscar “Dock” and Nora McLendon; siblings: Oscar, Sally, Pauline, Ruth, Elizabeth, Jennifer, and Joyce.

Ms. McLendon was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. A pround life long resident of Troy, Ms. Burnice was a graduate of Charles Henderson and stayed in the area after graduation. Ms. Burnice was a very social person and a very hard worker was left her well suited for her career as a waitress. Whereas she was great with people and very freindly people knew that if Ms. Burnice was their waitress that she was in charge and you needed to stay in line. Outside of work she loved the outdoors. She loved animals and spending time in her garden. Above all else she loved her family and cherished the time she spent making memories with them. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.
