Mrs. Susie Mae Garrett Elmore

Mrs. Susie Mae Garrett Elmore, 104, of Troy, AL passed peacefully early Sunday morning, December 25, 2023, at Serenity South Assisted Living in Troy, AL.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am est (10:00 am cst) Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City with Rev. Robb Goodman officiating.  Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends Thursday morning from 10:00 am est until 11:00 am est, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Elmore was born March 2, 1919, in Pike County, AL, daughter of the late Charlie Curtis Garrett and Susie Bessie Long Garrett.  She worked in the banking industry for most of her career and retired from Columbus Bank and Trust with over 25 years of service.  Mrs. Elmore enjoyed sewing, crocheting, but her favorite was quilting.  She also spent time gardening and working with ceramics.  Above all, she cherished her church, Summerville Baptist Church, where she was a long time member.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Julius C. Elmore; siblings, Robert C. Garrett, Sr., Arlie Franklin Garrett, Mary Gullatte, Ruby Ingram, Walter Garrett and Buford Garrett.

She is survived by two sisters, Ruth Henderson and Janette Wesley, both of Troy, AL; a brother, Grover Garrett of Troy, AL; numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
