Sometimes, the number 13 is lucky and it will be on Saturday, January 13, when the JCA hosts a free photography workshop at The Studio, led by award-winning photographer Warren Simmons.
The workshop will be from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, January 13, at The Studio, just across from the Johnson Center for the Arts on East Walnut Street.
Andrea Pack, JCA director, said The Art of Seeing and Photography workshop will explore how photographs can come from a place where it is possible to let go of one’s expectations and preconceived ideas and open up to curious exploration, allowing the visual surprises in the everyday world to find us.
The workshop will explore how to use cameras, especially the ones on phones, to express moments of clear, fresh connection with the visual world, creating beautiful, original compositions where eye, mind and heart converge.
According to Warren Simmons, “the object isn’t to take great photographs, it’s to be in that receptive state of mind that makes magical visual moments possible and then expressing them with your camera.
Pack said The Art of Seeing & Photography workshop is a not-to-be-miss opportunity for those who enjoy photography and want for their photographs to be more that a picture taken a with a camera.
