CHHS Wrestling competes in Julian McPhillips Invitational

The Charles Henderson High School wrestling team traveled to St. James on Jan. 5-6 to compete in the annual Jullian McPhillips Invitational.
Charles Henderson’s Jackson Jones lost to St. James’ Alex Ruona in the first round via pinfall and then lost to Percy Julian’s George Hunter in the first round of the consolation bracket via pinfall.
Brendon Mosley of CHHS earned a first round bye in the 177-pound division but then fell to Pruitt Conner of St. James via pinfall in the quarterfinals. In the consolation bracket’s second round he fell to Percy Julian’s George Hunter.
In the 128-pound division, CHHS wrestler Henry Grenon defeated Reeltown’s Michael Franks 18-2 before losing to Carson Teel of American Christian Academy via pinfall in the second round.
David Dawson of CHHS also received a bye in the first round of the 128-pound division before losing to Brewbaker Tech’s Will Russell in the second round.
At 167 pounds, Charles Henderson’s Jace Dates fell to Prattville Christian’s Cole Young via pinfall in the first round and then he received a bye in the first round of the consolation bracket. Dates lost to Dothan’s Jordan Bighems via pinfall in the second round.
Sterling Sharp fell to Tallassee’s Braden Arnold in the 287-pound division via pinfall in the first round and then he lost to Carver-Montgomery’s Treymane Chapman in the consolation bracket.
