Jimmie Broadnax celebrated her 102nd birthday on January 10, 2024, at Troy Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Leah Pemberton, Social Services, said Broadnax happily and appreciatively answered questions about her life and about her thankfulness to be a centenarian.
Broadnax said being 102 years old is a happy feeling.
“I thank the Lord every day,” she said. ‘I grew up in Union Springs and worked on the farm with my daddy. We made syrup, grew vegetables and raised animals. We did a little bit of everything. We had a big farm that required a lot of work.”
Broadnax offered good advice for the younger generation.
“Go to church, pray and serve the Lord,” she said. “I enjoy going to church. I was raised in church and I love gospel music.”
Broadnax has never had her own children but raised her nephew and nieces.
Everyone at Troy H& R wished Broadnax a very Happy Birthday and continued blessings throughout her life.
