Don’t believe everything you read on the Internet.
Banks Buy Rite is not a gas station. It’s also a grocery store, at a museum of rural yesteryear, a feed store….and the best home-style cooking to ever cross a palate.
The Banks Buy Rite is just across the railroad crossing on Highway 29 in rural Pike County. Those unfamiliar with the area and are stopped at the railroad crossing by a slow-moving train often make a quick stop for gas or chips at the Bu Rite. However, if it’s around breakfast time or dinner time, they will, instead, opt for biscuits, grits and eggs or burgers and tater logs.
“Y’all come back!”
And, it’s good bet they will said the men who lingered a little long around community table, Thursday morning.
Mac Seay, Bruce Law, Jessie Williams and Mark Tatom all agreed that the Banks Buy Rite is the place for the morning news and weather forecast and a tall tale or two shared man-to-man at the Banks Buy Rite coffee table.
“And everybody is welcome!”
