The month of February is American Heart Month and the Pike County Chapter of the American Heart Association has been, and continues to be, involved in awareness campaigns and fundraising efforts in support of local projects and the American Heart Association.
After a successful “Go Red” Campaign, the focus is now on the Annual Heart Walk set for Monday, February 26, at the Troy Sportsplex
Tracey Davis, Pike County Heart Board member, said Pike County’s 2024 Heart Walk will be from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. and will have a variety of booths related to heart disease and stroke and other health issues, information about local organizations and fun activities for the youngsters.
A light meal will be served and everyone will be invited and encouraged to walk the upper level of the Sportsplex, Davis said.
Entertainment will be by Henry “Hendock” Everette and everyone enjoys being with friends while supporting a good cause, Davis said.
The annual Heart Walk raises awareness of heart disease and stroke and raises funds for research into heart disease and stroke.
Heart disease is the number one killer in America.
One person dies every 33 seconds in the United States from cardiovascular disease.
That is why the Pike County Chapter of the American Heart Association encourages everyone to support the Pike County Heart Walk on February 26 to learn more and do more to reduce the number of deaths from heart disease and stroke, here in Pike County and throughout America.
