Area Baseball: Pike Lib, Charles Henderson pick up Monday wins

On Monday, March 3, the Pike Liberal Arts Patriots (8-0) picked up a 3-2 win over the Providence Christian Eagles to remain undefeated on the season.
The two sides battled in a dominant pitching duel from pitchers on both sides. For Pike, Dawson Bradford got the win, striking out seven batters and giving up just one hit and no runs in five and 1/3 innings. Kade Brookins also struck out a pair of batters, while giving up one hit and two earned runs in one and 2/3 innings pitched. Providence’s Porter Dykes struck out seven Pike batters and gave up just three hits and two earned runs in his five and 2/3 innings on the mound.
John Lott, Brookins and Luke Barron each had one hit for the Patriots, the only hits of the day for PLAS. Houston Gunter, Lott and Barron each scored one run, as well.
The Charles Henderson Trojans (5-6) also picked up a 5-1 win over the Prattville Christian Panthers on Monday.
CHHS was led at the plate by Parker Adams, who went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Cooper Johnson scored two runs. Clay Johnson and Chase Vaznaian each scored one run. Clay Johnson pitched five and 1/3 innings and struck out five batters and gave up six hits and one earned run. Cole Pugh struck out two batters and gave no hits or runs in one and 2/3 innings pitched.
On Friday, March 1, the reigning 2A State Champ Ariton Purple Cats (5-2) picked up a pair of wins over Carroll and Geneva.
