Area teams compete in Thursday softball action

The Pike Liberal Arts Lady Patriots, Ariton Lady Purple Cats, Charles Henderson Lady Trojans and Zion Chapel Lady Rebels were all in action on Thursday night.
The Lady Rebels (14-1) went head-to-head with Ariton (6-5) with ZCHS coming out on top by a score of 9-4.
The Lady Rebs threw a home run party in the win with Elida Velazquez, Sydney Boothe and Shea Wambles each hitting homers on the night. Boothe went 2-for-3 at the plate with a homer, a double, three RBIs and a run, while Madison Meeks went 2-for-3 with a run. Boothe also got the win in the circle, striking out three batters and giving up one hit and no runs in two innings pitched. Riley Bannin also pitched five innings and fanned five batters, while giving up five hits and one earned run.
For Ariton, Nya Allen went 2-for-3 at the plate with a home run, two RBIs and a run. Sydney Adams also hit a home run for the Lady Cats. Beth Dixon also hit a double. Adams pitched four and 1/3 innings and struck out four batters, while giving up five hits and five earned runs in four and 1/3 innings pitched.
The Pike Lady Patriots (4-5) knocked off Class 5A’s Carroll Lady Eagles by a score of 2-0 on Thursday. Alissa Barron earned two RBIs, while Allie Booth and Gracie Smith scored one run each. Barron struck out two batters in the circle.
Charles Henderson (5-7) lost 10-3 on Thursday to Holtville. Molly Garrett went 2-for-3 at the plate for Charles Henderson with two doubles, one RBI and one run. Janazia Cantlow also scored a run. Garrett pitched five innings and fanned three batters, while giving up five hits and four earned runs. Calleigh Compton pitched two innings, as well.
