On Tuesday, Goshen High School senior football player signed an academic scholarship offer from Augustana College where he will also play college football.
Augustana is a Division III program located in Rock Island, Illinois. Brown chose to sign with Augustana over both academic and athletic scholarships from across the country.
“It was a really great community,” Brown said of his decision. “They treated me well from day one and showed me so much interest in me and my talent. It was just an obvious choice for me.”
Brown was a starting offensive lineman for Goshen and while he said it was difficult to maintain his academic excellence, it’s all worth it now that he gets to continue to follow his dream of playing college football.
“I just want to get smarter, really,” Brown said of his goals for college. “I love academics and school and being able to learn more in a really good academic program is an amazing opportunity for me.
“Also, just getting the chance to play college football has been such a huge goal and dream for me, so just being able to play football and hopefully doing well at the collegiate level is a goal for me.”
Brown says he intends to major in history and wants to one day become a Military Historian and potentially teach military history.
