Area Softball: Pike Lib tops Goshen, ZCHS throttles Highland Home

On Tuesday, the Pike Liberal Arts Lady Patriots picked up a 16-1 win over the Goshen Lady Eagles.
Mary Stephens went 2-for-2 at the plate with two RBIs and two runs, while Gracie Smith went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs. Alissa Barron hit four RBIs and scored two runs, while Haley Brown hit a double and earned two runs. Julianne Meyer and Tara Walker scored two runs each.
Stephens pitched three innings and struck out eight batters, while giving up one hit and one earned run.
Goshen’s Addison Richburg hit the lone Lady Eagle hit, a solo home run. Jayci Rushing pitched one and 1/3 innings and struck out one batter, while giving up five hits and three earned runs.
Pike Lib followed up with a 12-3 loss to Brantley on Wednesday. Brown went 2-for-3 against the Dawgs with a run, while Smith and Allie Booth scored one run each. Barron pitched seven innings and fanned six batters, while giving up 10 hits and three earned runs.
The Zion Chapel Lady Rebels picked up an 18-1 win over Highland Home on March 19. Kennedy Hussey went 2-for-2 at the plate with a triple and four RBIs. Hussey also struck out a batter and gave up no hits or runs in one inning pitched.
The Pike County Lady Bulldogs lost 14-3 to Elba on March 19. Jada Duncan and Alyssa Hiersche each scored a run. Abigail Griffin struck out one batter and gave up 12 hits and four earned runs in four and 2/3 innings pitched.
The Arion Lady Purple Cats lost 3-2 to GW Long on Tuesday. Caitlyn Webb and Lizzy Faircloth scored one run each for Ariton. Beth Dixon struck out six batters and gave up six hits and two earned runs in six innings pitched.
