Cobb’s ninth inning homer guides Troy past UAB

On March 19, the Troy Trojans picked up a 9-8 win over the UAB Blazers on the road thanks to a ninth inning home run from Tremayne Cobb Jr.
With the game tied 8-8 in the top of the ninth inning, Cobb belted a solo homer that gave Troy the lead. In the bottom of the ninth, UBA secured the tying run on second base but could never get into scoring positions as the Trojan defense held on for the win.
Cobb went 3-for-4 at the plate for Troy with a home run, four RBIs and one run, while Will Butcher went 2-for-4 with a double, a homer, one RBI and three runs. Kole Myers also went 2-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and two runs, while Aidan Gilroy went 2-for-4 with a run.
A total of six Trojan pitchers toed the rubber against UAB with Noah Manning earned his second win of the season, striking out one batter and giving up four hits and no earned runs in two and 1/3 innings pitched. Brady Fuller struck out a pair of batters and gave up three hits and no runs in his three innings on the mound.
Logan Braunschweig led UAB at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double, while former Pike Lib star Mayes White scored one run for the Blazers. Brooks House struck out five batters for UAB on the mound, while giving up six hits and four earned runs in four and 1/3 innings pitched.
Troy is back at home this weekend for a conference series against rival South Alabama March 22-24.
