The long awaited and greatly anticipated Pike County Cattlemen’s Annual Equipment Auction is set for Saturday, April 6 at Cattleman Park. The gates will open at 8 a.m. and will close when the last items are sold.
The Cattlemen began receiving auction items on March 29 and on March 30 and April 1-4 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. No items will be accepted on Sunday, March 31 or Friday April 5.
Pike County Cattleman Johnny Garrett said the auction will have everything from old-tiques to antiques and from wagons to tractors and trucks.
“The auction will have a large number of vehicles from the City of Troy, the Pike County Sherriff’s Department and the Pike County Commission,” Garrett said. “The vehicle auction will begin at 11 a.m. on auction day.
Garrett said the Pike County Cattleman’s Equipment Auction always has a large number of items, a large number of bargain seekers and many who just like the atmosphere of an auction.
“We’ll have two auctions going at a time and that moves everything much faster,” Garrett said. “We are looking for a big day, a good crowd and a lot of times bought and sold.”
The proceeds from the Cattlemen’s Auction benefit the upkeep of the Cattlemen Park and support the scholar awards programs of the Cattlemen and Cattlewomen. The scholarships total about $20,000 annually.
