Area Softball: Zion Chapel knocks off Goshen 16-1

The Zion Chapel Lady Rebels (22-2) won their sixth straight game on Thursday, defeating the Goshen Lady Eagles by a score of 16-1 in four innings.
Kennedy Hussey went 4-for-4 at the plate with three doubles, three RBIs and four runs, while Amber Kidd went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs. Madison Meeks went 2-for-3 with a home run, an RBI and a run. Shea Wambles went 2-for-3 with a double, one RBI and three runs. Sydney Booth also hit a homer, while Aubrey Bassett and Elly Sheets earned doubles. Riley Bannin struck out eight batters and gave up just two hits and no earned runs in four innings in the circle.
For Goshen, Emalie Trannin and Macie McAliley earned one hit each. Jayci Rushing struck out three in four innings pitched.
The Pike Liberal Arts Lady Patriots dropped a Thursday contest to the Luverne Tigers by a score of 6-4.
Allie Booth went 1-for-2 at the plate with two runs, while Haylie Brown earned a double and an RBI. Mary Stephens pitched five innings and struck out two batters, while giving up three hits and two earned runs. Alissa Barron also gave up no hits or earned runs in one inning in the circle.
The Pike County Lady Bulldogs ended in an 8-8 tie with the Elba Lady Tigers on Thursday. Ky Wilkerson went 2-for-4 at the plate, while Paloma Cain-Munoz went 2-for-5 with a double, one RBI and two runs. Jada Duncan went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run. Abigail Griffin went 1-for-2 with an RBI and two runs. Wilkerson pitched all eight innings and struck out 14 batters, while giving up six hits and eight earned runs.
For Elba, Destinee Tidwell went 2-for-2 with a double, a triple, four RBIs and a run.
The Ariton Lady Purple Cats fell 4-0 to GW Long on Thursday. Ariton were held both hitless and scoreless on the day. Beth Dixon and Lizzy Faircloth drew one walk each. Sydney Adams struck out seven batters and gave up eight hits and four earned runs in seven innings pitched.
