Zion Chapel Softball wins seventh straight

The Class 2A No. 3-ranked Zion Chapel Lady Rebels earned their 23rd win of the season on April 9 with a 5-3 victory over the Luverne Lady Tigers at home.
The win was Zion Chapel’s seventh straight and the Lady Rebels have now won 11 of their last 13 games.
Against Luverne, Riley Bannin hit a two-run home run for the Lady Rebels, while Kennedy Hussey, Kaylee Hodge, Elly Sheets and Aubrey Bassett scored one run each. Madison Meeks and Shea Wambles each earned a double. Sydney Boothe got the win in the circle, striking out three batters and giving up seven hits and three earned runs in seven innings pitched.
For Luverne, Lacey Holley went 2-for-4 with a home run, an RBI and two runs. Brooke Horn struck out four and gave up eight hits and five earned runs in six innings pitched.
Zion Chapel travels to Troy on April 11 to play the Pike Liberal Arts Lady Patriots.
