The 2024 TroyFest Student Art Show at the Johnson Center for the Arts opened on Friday and will close on May 3.
During that time, there will be many opportunities to visit the art show that features students in grades K through 12.
The student art show is, perhaps, the most attended show because it’s all about kids and their art.
Students of all ages are excited to see their art on display and in such a “cool” place as the Johnson Center for the Arts.
The JCA is housed in the Troy Post Office building that was constructed in 1910 and served as the post office until 1980. In 1997, the historic building opened as the Johnson Center for the Arts and is now center of the arts community in downtown Troy.
Artists from the local area share space with those who are well-known and highly respected across the United States and beyond.
Pam Smith, Student Art show director, expressed appreciation to the JCA staff and board for the support of its the annual TroyFest Student Art Show.
“I really believe that a student art show is great for lifting spirits and bringing a little more positivity into our lives, Smith said. “And, art teachers throughout the city and county, appreciate the JCA as the best way to show off all the work they do”
Smith said the art show also gives the students a since of pride and accomplishment for their talents.
“We are very lucky to have such talented art teachers in the public and private schools and homeschools.”
The TroyFest Student Art Show is open at the Johnson Center from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday until May 3. It will also be open all weekend during TroyFest., the last full weekend in April.
