If there is a better onion in the universe, the Troy Exchange Club would be selling it.
But there’s not. So, the Exchange Club members are, once again, and, as tradition holds, selling Vidalia onions as a club fundraiser.
Exchange Club member Jerry Beckett said, as usual, the Vidalia onions will come from Bland Farms, which is close to the area of Georgia where they are grown.
“We pick the onions up and bring them right back to Troy,” Beckett said. “So, they are about as fresh as you can get.”
“The price is holding at $15 for the (small) 10-pound bag and $30 for the (large) 25-pound bag,” Beckett said. “Both are good deals.”
Pick up day for Vidalia onions is Wednesday, May 15 at Murphree Park in Troy.
To place an order for Vidalia onions call Beckett 334-566-9203 or Donna McLaney Jones at 268-2553. Orders may also be placed with any member of the Troy Exchange Club.
FYI-Vidalia onions are distinguished from common yellow onions by their sweet taste. The onions are naturally sweet but have just enough of a hint of onion for you to know that you are still eating an onion.”
