Zion Chapel competes in Andalusia Softball Tournament

The Class 2A No. 3-ranked Zion Chapel Lady Rebels traveled to Andalusia to compete in tournament action this weekend.
On April 12, Zion Chapel opened things up with a resounding 12-1 win over Class 3A’s No. 2 Opp Lady Bobcats. Amber Kidd led ZCHS at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a home run, five RBIs and a run. Kennedy Hussey went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run, while Shea Wambles scored three runs. Riley Bannin pitched all five innings and struck out six batters, while giving up three hits and no earned runs.
Zion Chapel followed that up with a 5-1 win over Class 4A’s Andalusia later in the day. Bannin went 2-for-3 at the plate with a run, while Kaylee Hodge hit a triple and scored one run. Sydney Boothe pitched all five innings and fanned six batters along with giving up one hit and one earned run.
Zion Chapel started bracket play on April 13 and were eliminated by Opp in a rematch in the first round. ZCHS struggled at the plate, earning no hits on the day. Bannin fanned six batters in seven innings pitched along with giving up six hits and two earned runs.
Opp went on to win the tournament.
