Charles Duncan
Charles Duncan age 73 of Troy died Friday, April 12, 2024 at Troy Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 15, 2014 at 11 o’clock a.m. from the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with Reverend Brian McLendon officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.
Charles is survived by his wife, Betty Duncan, his daughter, Shay Jones (Jason), and his son, Todd Duncan (Jenny), two grandchildren, Joselyn Jones (Dakotah), and Finn Duncan; sisters, Sheila Lee, and Debra Hill(Kenny), sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, Jimmy and Glenda Campbell, Ruby Alford, Thomas Graydon, and Warren Walker, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Rufus and Polly Duncan, mother and father-in law, Charlie and Glennie Graydon, brother-in-law, James Alford, and sister-in-law, Carolyn Walker.
Active pallbearers will be Jimbo Campbell, Chuck Campbell, Jeff Alford, Brent Hill, Brandon Hill, and Brad Ward.
Peggy Scarbrough Cox
Peggy Scarbrough Cox passed away on April 14, 2024, at her home. She was born in Troy, Alabama, on February 24, 1939. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 16, at First Baptist Church in Troy with Ross Lankford officiating and Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing. Burial followed the service at Green Hills Memorial Cemetery. Peggy was a lifelong resident of Troy, graduated from Troy High School and received a bachelors and masters degree in Education from Troy State University. She taught physical education at several schools, including Goshen High School, and stayed friends with some of her students until the end of her life. She was an active member of First Baptist Church where she taught 3-year-old Sunday School for over 30 years. She was involved in missions and served on many mission trips both in North America and internationally. She was a master gardener and spent many hours a day working in her beautiful yard. She was adventurous, loving and took care of her family and friends at all times.
She is survived by her children, Kenneth Wood Cox, Jr., (Lydia) and Taylor Lee Cox Jinright (Ross). Six grandchildren, Shelley Lynn Cox, Chandler Wood Cox, John David Cox, Callee Johnson Jinright, William Wood Jinright (Kelsey), and Kenneth Reed Jinright. Her brother, Robert Lee Scarbrough and sister Anne Aderholt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Taylor Scarbrough and Estelle Johnson Scarbrough, her sister, Rebecca Langford, and her loving husband of 63 years Kenneth Wood Cox.
The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to Loretta Blair for her faithful and loving care.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chandler Cox, John David Cox, Wood Jinright, Reed Jinright, David Ricks, and Rob Drinkard.
