The Troy Trojans’ women’s basketball team is followed up its historic run in the WNIT in March by announcing the signing of six transfer players on April 18.

Troy will have to fill a hole left by a number of graduates departing from the team including All-Conference players Ja’Mia Hollings, Tai’Sheka Porchia and Makayia Hallmon. These new signings include Jamirica Roberson of Bishop State Community College, Briana Peguero of Mercer, Ashley Baez of Florida Gulf Coast, Emani Jenkins of Trinity Valley Community College, Khila Morris of Union and Emma Imevbore of Arkansas State. This signing class joins NJCAA All-Americans Adriana Jones and Fortuna Ngnwao, who signed with Troy in March.

Roberson is a Montgomery native who played high school basketball at Jefferson Davis High School. She started her college career at Bishop State, earning First-Team All-ACCC honors and Region 22 All-South in 2023-2024. She average 13.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, 1.2 blocks, one assist and 1.4 steals per game in 2023-2024. As a freshman, the 6-foot-2-inch forward averaged 12.2 points and 9.1 rebounds per game.

“Jamirica is an athletic post who will be depended on to be one of the best rebounding posts in the conference,” Troy Coach Chanda Rigby said. “She has good size and athleticism and a natural knack and timing to take possession of the ball off the glass.”

Baez is a 5-foot-6-inch native of the Dominican Republic. She started her college career at Chipola College, earning All-Panhandle honors with 21.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 2.6 steals per game as a freshman. She transferred to Florida Gulf Coast this past season and averaged 4.1 points per game in seven games.

“Ashley is as much of a natural fit for our offensive system as any player at Troy,” Rigby said. “She plays at a speed that is difficult for many defenders to keep up with. She has a high motor that will push our tempo on both offense and defense.”

Jenkins is a 5-foot-11-inch guard from Dallas, Texas that started her college career at Trinity Valley Community College. At South Oak Cliff High School she earned District 12-5A MVP and averaged 18.7 points, six rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.3 steals per game in her high school career. At Trinity, she was named a NCAA Top 40 All-Star in 2023 and averaged 13.6 points, 1.6 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game this season.

Peguero is a 5-foot-7-inch guard from Houston, Texas that started her college career at Trinity, where she earned All-Conference and All-Region honors. She transferred to Mercer this past season and averaged 10.1 points, 1.4 assists and 2.3 rebounds per game.

Troy lands a big force in the post in 6-foot-4-inch forward Imevbore from London, England. She played for the London Thunder 18U team in high school and won three consecutive MVP awards, averaging 37 points, 15 points and seven rebounds per game with the Thunder.

Imevbore started her college career at Lamar College, averaging 3.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in 2022-2023. She transferred to Arkansas State last season and averaged 1.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game this past season.

Morris may be the crown jewel of this signing class for the Trojans. The Bronx, NY native earned NYSSWA All-State honors at Frederick Douglass Academy and then started her college career at Union College. At Union, Morris has been one of the junior college (JUCO) players in the country.

The 5-foot-11-inch guard is a two-time GSAC Player of the Year, two-time All-GSAC, two-time All-Region, two-time NJCAA All-American and was named an NJCAA Top 40 All-Sta. in 2022-2023, she averaged 16 points, 7.2 rebounds, 5.3 assists and three steals per game, while averaging 19 points, 5.5 rebounds, six assists and three steals per game this past season.

“Khila is the third 2024 NJCAA All-American to sign in this class (Adrianna Jones and Fortuna Ngnawo both signed in the early signing period), and we know her talent and skill will make an immediate impact,” Rigby said. “She is a player who has a great feel for the game. She delivers the ball and scores the ball equally well. She is serious about improving and winning, and I can’t wait to get started with Khila in a Troy uniform.”
