Lady Trojans eliminated from Area Softball Tournament

On Monday, the Charles Henderson Lady Trojans traveled to Holtville for the Class 5A, Area 4 Softball Tournament.
Charles Henderson started the day off with a 3-1 loss to Brewbaker Tech in the first round. Jada Jones and Janazia Cantlow each earned one hit for CHHS, while Reece Garrett earned the lone run. Camille Lewis pitched all six innings and fanned one batter, while giving up eight hits and one earned run.
In the other first round game, Greenville lost 10-0 to Holtville. CHHS then shutout Greenville by a score of 8-0 in an elimination game. Jones went 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and two runs, while Calleigh Compton went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Lewis also hit a double in the win. Compton pitched five and 1/3 innings with four strikeouts, while giving up four hits and no runs. Molly Garrett also pitched one and 2/3 innings and fanned three batters along with giving up one hit and no runs.
Charles Henderson then faced Holtville and was eliminated from the tournament with a 10-7 loss. The two sides were tied up 7-7 going into extra innings when Holtville hit a walk-off three run home run in the eighth to secure the win.
Jones went 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and two runs, while Compton went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Lewis went 2-for-3 with a run. Molly Garrett pitched seven and 2/3 innings and struck out four batters, while giving up 11 hits and five earned runs.
