The Messenger will be doing a Senior Spotlight on a student from each high school in The Messenger’s coverage area.
Charles Henderson High School senior Carl Knight has balanced his schoolwork with a number of extracurricular to excel in school.
Knight is a recipient of the Harry C. Klein Scholarship, Charles R. Calkins Scholarship and Trojan Leadership Scholarship. Knight plays keyboard for the Blue Machine Marching Band and also plays mallets for the concert band.
Knight is a member of the Kappa League, National Technical Society, FCCLA, BETA Club and is a Trojan Ambassador. He’s also takes part in the Child Development program in dual enrollment with Enterprise State Community College and is the spokesperson for the program.
Knight plans to attend Troy University and will major in music education with a minor in early childhood education. He also plans to be a member of the Sound of the South Band.
While Night said it’s difficult to balance all of his extracurricular and continue to excel in school, he’s found a way to do so.
“It’s tough but I feel like when I have God on my side I can do it,” he said. “Also, if I stay disciplined, keep my schedule, set my alarms and just stay organized it makes it easier to do everything I love without feeling like I’m overloading myself.”
