The Messenger will be doing a Senior Spotlight on a student from each high school in The Messenger’s coverage area.
Pike Liberal Arts School senior Addie Renfroe is a stellar athlete and student, being named the school’s valedictorian.
Renfroe is a member of both the PLAS volleyball and tennis team. She earned All-Messenger honors in volleyball this past season. She also was a member of the Dugout Dolls and was a manager for the PLAS basketball team. Outside of athletics, Renfroe is a member of Interact Club, Excel Club, Spanish Club and Calculus Club. She’s also vice president of the National Honors Society.
Renfroe is a recipient of the Chancellor’s Scholarship, Leadership Scholarship and Legacy Scholarship from Troy University, where she plans to pursue a degree in Elementary Education.
Renfroe will also be a manager for the Troy University volleyball team, which she hopes will help propel her into coaching volleyball.
“I want to go to college and get my degree and hopefully get to teach and coach volleyball in high school in the future,” she said. “I wanted to be a manger to help get the feel of what it is to coach. I’ll get to help with practices and everything and get to learn while I’m doing and watching the coaches in action, which I’ll be able to use in the future.”
