Troy Softball eliminated from Sun Belt Tournament

The Troy Trojans’ 2024 season came to an end in the Sun Belt Conference Softball Tournament this weekend.
Troy, who earned a first-round bye, throttled Coastal Carolina in the second round on May 9 by a score of 16-0, run-ruling the Chanticleers.
The Trojans’ bats were on fire, earning 17 hits in 32 at bats with four homers and four doubles. Audra Thompson led the way, going 4-for-4 with two home runs, a double, five RBIs and four runs. Jade Sinness also went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and one run. Anslee Finch went 2-for-4 with a double, a homer, one RBI and one run, while Libby Baker also hit a home run in the win. Baker also got the win in the circle, striking out four batters and earning both a no-hitter and shutout in five innings of work.
Next up, the Trojans faced off against top-seed Louisiana in the quarterfinals on May 10, falling 4-2 in a tough loss. Troy led 2-1 going into the sixth inning when the Cajuns scored three runs to secure the victory.
For Troy, Baker went 1-for-4 with two RBIs, while Taylor McKinney and Natalie Turner scored one run each. Baker pitched six innings and fanned one batter, while giving up two hits and three earned runs.
Both Baker and Thompson earned All-Tournament honors for their play over the weekend.
The Trojans finished the 2024 season with a record of 34-22 improving on 2023’s record of 33-19-1. Troy also made it to the third round of the Sun Belt Tournament after being knocked out in the first game in 2023.
