Janet Warr King
Janet Warr King, age 80, died on Monday, May 13, 2024, at her home in Trussville, AL after an extended illness. Visitation will be at Hayes Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 15 from 1-2 pm with funeral services to follow. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Evergreen Cemetery Fund in Elba, c/o Elba City Hall, 200 Buford Street, Elba, AL 36323, or to the music ministry of First Baptist Church of Elba, c/o First Baptist Church of Elba, 606 Simmons Street, Elba, AL 36323.
Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Edwin King, her parents, Dr. Edgar Milton and Irma Armstrong Warr, along with a grandson, Colby Hall.
Survivors include her children: Susan (Blair) Smith of Birmingham, AL, Catherine (Todd) Watson of Evergreen, AL, Amy (John) Hall of McDonough, GA, and Rob (Jay Veal) King of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren: Chandler Smith of Boston, MA, Clarkson (Maggie) Smith of Birmingham, AL, Todd Watson, Jr. and Anna Watson of Evergreen, AL, and Josh Hall of McDonough, GA; sister: Sara (Kenneth) Strong; sisters-in-law: Patsy Hanchey of Augusta, GA and Andrea King of Crestwood, KY; and many nieces and nephews.
Betty Sue Hobbs (Johnson)
Betty Sue Hobbs (Johnson), age 80, formerly of Troy, AL, passed away on May 10, 2024 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s and Vascular Dementia. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 on Saturday, May 18 at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy, with visitation in the hour preceding. Reverend Tripp Martin of Auburn First Baptist Church will be officiating.
Betty, beloved mother to three children, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, entered into the loving arms of Jesus with many loved ones by her side as lavish expressions of love were exchanged. Much of Betty’s life was dedicated to the care of children at the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home and later in her home daycare business. She never encountered a child that did not elicit joy and interaction from her. Betty was passionate about spending time with her large family, music, dancing, and bargain-hunting.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Hamil and Louise Johnson, her husband, Alpheus (Buddy) Hobbs, her brother, Tommy Johnson, and her sister, Kathy Nonnenmann. She is survived by her children, Sharon Elizabeth Green (Dan Green), Lisa Hobbs Stone (Kenneth Stone), and Andrew Ryan Hobbs (Harriet Hobbs). She is also survived by her grandchildren (Daniel Green, Sarah Green, Jake Stone, Emma Stone, Leslie Stone, and Park Hobbs), her great-grandchildren (Bella Garland and Will Green), siblings Linda Herring, Joe Johnson, and Delores Motes, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to her caregivers at Home Instead and East Alabama Medical Center, who showed profound compassion and professionalism in her final days with us.
Pallbearers will be Ken Stone, Jake Stone, Dan Green, Daniel Green, Stacy Johnson, and Charlie Nonnenmann. Honorary pallbearers are Sarah Green, Park Hobbs, Emma Stone, and Leslie Stone.
The family requests that tribute donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (act.alz.org) in lieu of flowers.

Steve C. Roberts
Steve C. Roberts of Troy, AL passed away Friday, May 10, 2024, at his residence. He was 67. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Skeen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bo Weed officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery with Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2024, at Skeen Funeral Home. The family will also receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Steve was born September 18, 1956 in Troy, AL to Clinton Roberts and Christine Edwards Roberts. He was a plant supervisor at K & W Recycle. He was preceded in death by his father, Clinton Roberts and a brother-in-law, Pete Price. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Roberts, Troy; mother, Christine Roberts, Troy; sons, Matt Thorne, Iowa, Steve Roberts, Jr., Prattville, Derrick Roberts (Amanda), Troy; grandchildren, Tyler Thorne, Alaska, Gavin Roberts, Hayden Roberts, Alexis Thorne, Colby Roberts, all of Troy; sister, Diane Price, Troy; brother and sister-in-law, Andy and Patricia Senn; nieces and nephews, Greg Price (Amy), Troy, Jamie Price (Devin), Troy, Jason Senn, Erik Senn, and Keri Grantham (Chan).
