Troy Post 70 set for Battle of the Wiregrass

Another summer baseball season is here and Troy Post 70 will face off against the Ozark Outlaws May 31-June 1 in the Battle of the Wiregrass.
The three-game series between the two teams will take place in both Troy and Ozark. Following that series, Post 70 will head to Tuscaloosa to take part in the Alabama/Mississippi Border Battle June 7-9. Post 70 then takes part in the Alabama Legion Games in Pelham June 15.
From June 21-23, Post 70 will host the Troy Post 70 Summer Classic in Troy before heading to Tupelo, Miss., for the King City Classic June 28-30. After a break for the Fourth of July, Post 70 is back in action July 12-14 with the Troy Round Robin in Troy before heading back to Tuscaloosa for the American Legion State Tournament July 19-21.
Troy Post 70 is one of the most successful summer baseball teams in the state and once again features some of the top high school and college baseball stars from the area. Pike Lib’s Will Rice (Wallace-Dothan), Hatfield’s Payne Jefcoat (Wallace-Dothan) and Troy University pitcher Brady Richardson (Enterprise) and outfielder Cody Markham (Pike Road) are the only Pike County representatives on this year’s squad. Ariton’s Caden Collier is also on the roster.
This year’s Troy Post 70 19U roster also features Headland’s Evan Taylor (Wallace-Dothan), Macon-East’s Gunner Justice (Coastal-South), Florala’s Cody Walsh (LBW), Houston Academy’s Cam Dyer (Wallace-Dothan), Providence Christian’s Matt Snell (ESCC) and Porter Dykes (Chipola), Opelika’s Jackson Kilcrease (Chipola), Dale County’s Aiden Wright (ESCC) and Wicksburg’s Easton Dean (LBW). Dothan’s Haze McCorkel (Southern Union), Blake Wynn (Wallace-Dothan), Brody Lindsey (Southern Union) and Cole Hewitt (ESCC) are also on the team.
