Reservation requests for the free performance of “Starch in their Petticoats” at the We Piddle Around Theater on June 23, have all been filled. However, those who would like to be on a waiting list may call Donna Jones at 334-268-2523.
“Starch in their Petticoats” is being made possible by the Alabama Humanities Alliance and hosted by the Brundidge Historical Society.
Jones said the number of seats available was limited due to the nature of the Old West show.
“Starch in the Petticoats” will be performed by Dolores Hydock, a nationally acclaimed storyteller teller and performer, who tells the true stories of five women who were part of the Western Expansion.
The stories are explored through newspapers clippings, historical accounts of their lives, photographs of the women and artifacts of the time.
Johnny Garrett, BHS president said “Starch in their Petticoats” be different from other performances at the WPA Theater.
Of course, for the Old West setting, cowboy hats and boots and garters and starched petticoats will be appropriate attire.
Garrett expressed appreciation to the Alabama Humanities Alliance for its continuing support of the arts, especially in small towns, and to Dolores Hydock for her continuing support of the We Piddle Around Theater.
