Pike County Kid’s Fishing Day at Clay Hill Farms on Saturday was, once again, a great success.

Seventy-seven kids, ages five to 15, had fun baiting their hooks with livers, Catfish Charlie and, of course, a wiggling worm.

The annual day for kids to enjoy free fishing fun and is hosted by the John Dorrill Family of Pronto.

Officer Jerry Jinright, Pike County Conservation Officer, said the Dorrill’s pond is a great place to fish with plenty of fish to catch.

Jinright expressed appreciation to the John Dorrill family for their continuing support of Kid’s Fishing Day that has given hundreds of kids’ opportunities to fish.

“The kids had a successful day of fishing with 103 fish weighing 222 pounds caught and, of course, a few slipped away,” Jinright said. “Everyone had a good time. It’s always good to see kids and their dads fishing together on Father’s Day Weekend, as well as the many other adults who make this day of fishing possible for the kids in their lives.”

The kids with the heaviest stringers of fish caught were:

Ages 5-8: Benjamin Lassity, first place, 13 lbs.  9 oz.; Madelyn Manvel, a close one, second place, 13 lbs. 8 oz.; and Luke Peters, third place, 9 lbs. 3 oz.

Ages 7-12: Taylor Croy, first place, 24 lbs., Jayse Smith, second place, 14 lbs. 6 oz.; Tucker Jeffcoat, third place, 12 lbs. 12 oz.

In the 13-15 age group, Anthony Carr, first place, 9 lbs. 6 oz.; Jamari Hancock, second place, another close one, 9 lbs.1 oz. and Mikey Carr, third place, 5 lbs. 4 oz.
