Troy’s Tremayne Cobb Jr. named Gold Glove finalist

On Tuesday, Troy University senior shortstop Tremayne Cobb Jr. was named a finalist for the Division I Gold Glove Award.
The finalists were announced by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and Rawlings on Tuesday, and the winners of the award for Division I will be announced on Wednesday. The Gold Glove Award is given annually to the top defensive players from each division of college and high school baseball. The finalists were voted on by the ABCA Division I All-America and Coach of the Year Committee.
Cobb is a Maryland native that started his college career at Hartford, where he earned All-Conference in 2021 and 2022 before transferring to Troy in 2023. This past season, Cobb earned a .982 fielding percentage with just four errors in 227 total chances. He earned 71 putouts with 152 assists and 35 double plays on the season.
Joining Cobb as a finalist for the award is San Diego catcher Ariel Armas, Sam Houston State catcher Walker Janek, Indiana State catcher Grant Magill, Nicholls State first baseman Edgar Alvarez, Dallas Baptist first baseman Chayton Krauss, Wake Forest first baseman Nick Kurtz, Louisiana Tech second baseman Michael Ballard, Morehead State second baseman Nick Gooden, North Carolina second baseman Alex Madera, Georgia Southern third baseman Jarrett Brown, Michigan third baseman Cole Caruso, James Madison third baseman Wyatt Peifer, Illinois shortstop Cal Hezja, Virginia shortstop Griff O’Ferrall, Oregon outfielder Bryce Boettcher, North Carolina outfielder Vance Honeycutt, East Carolina outfielder Ryley Johnson, Kansas State outfielder Brendan Jones, Stetson outfielder Kyle Jones, St. John’s outfielder Garrett Scavelli, West Virginia pitcher Derek Clark, Florida State pitcher Carson Dorsey and North Carolina pitcher Shea Sprague.
