Troy Post 70 16U captures Coastal Alabama Classic Championship

This past weekend, the Troy Post 70 16U baseball team traveled to Bay Minette and went 4-0 to capture the Coastal Alabama Classic Championship.
During the tournament, Post 70 defeated the Ace Academy Diamond Dawgs by a score of 5-3, beat KC Roos Bama 12-1, knocked off the Icon Underclassmen 10-2 and won 8-7 in the tournament championship. Post 70 scored 35 runs on the weekend, while giving up jus 13.
A number of Troy locals had big weekends for Post 70. Charles Henderson’s Chase Vaznaian earned a .300 batting average on the weekend with a double, four runs and two RBIs. He also pitched three innings and fanned four batters along with giving up two hits and no runs. Pike Lib’s Garrett Whitaker boasted a .667 batting average with five RBIs and three runs, while his Pike teammate Weston Garrett earned a .286 batting average with an RBI, a double and two runs.
Charles Henderson’s Trenton Bryan went 2-for-6 on the weekend with four runs and an RBI, while also pitching one inning and giving up no hits or runs. Charles Henderson’s Wes Templin also went 5-for-6 from the plate with four RBIs and five runs. He also pitched two and 1/3 innings with a strikeout, while giving up two hits and one earned run.
Post 70’s 16U squad followed up with a pair of wins on Tuesday against Selma 10-3 and the Montgomery Knights 18U team by a score of 8-0.
Bryan pitched three innings and struck out two batters with no hits or runs given up against Selma, while Whitaker also pitched an inning and fanned two batters, while giving up one hit and one earned run. Templin pitched the final inning and struck out a batter, while giving up two hits and two earned runs. Vaznaian scored two runs in the win.
Against Montgomery, Templin, Whitaker and Garrett each scored one run, while Vaznaian scored two.
