Pell City cornerback Jamari Johnson commits to Troy

The Troy Football team’s 2025 recruiting class added yet another commitment on Friday when Pell City cornerback Jamari Johnson committed to the Trojans.

Johnson is the fifth overall player to commit to Troy this week and fourth Class of 2025 commitment for the Trojans. Johnson was said to have impressed Troy coaches at a camp in Troy last week ahead of his commitment.

Johnson earned 38 tackles, five tackles-for-loss, one interception and six forced fumbles as a junior last season. He also intercepted three passes and broke up 17 passes as a sophomore in 2022.

The 6-foot, 170-pound cornerback committed to Troy over offers from other schools like Austin Peay, Samford, Louisiana-Monroe and Tennessee-Martin.

Johnson joins an ever-growing Class of 2025 which also includes Niceville (Fla.) safety Jon Bocchino, Miami (Fla.) receiver Darius Johnson, Spain Park running back Dakari Shanks, Excel defensive end Reggis Shamberger, McKenzie receiver Jah’Marren Jackson, Central-Phenix City outside linebacker Makel Green, Powder Springs (Ga.) offensive lineman Paul Bowling, Hoover defensive tackle PaLanding Drammeh, Carmel, Indiana, defensive end Uchenyo Ojata and Paducah, Ky., quarterback Jack James.
