On Monday, Troy native Zion Grady announced his commitment to play college football at Ohio State University.

Grady, who originally committed to Alabama in November of 2023, announced his decision via social media. Grady decommitted from Alabama after the retirement of legendary coach Nick Saban. Grady committed to Ohio State over offers from all over the country, including Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Tennessee, Miami (Fla.), Michigan, Colorado and dozens more.

Grady, a 6-foot-4-inch, 235-pound incoming senior, is rated as a four-star edge by all recruiting services. He’s ranked as the No. 66 overall prospect in the Class of 2025 by 247Sports, the No. 6 overall edge and No. 6-ranked player in Alabama.

During the spring, Grady transferred to Enterprise High School, where he will play his senior season. Prior to that, Grady had been a starting defensive end at Charles Henderson since his freshman season. He earned All-State and All-Messenger honors in back-to-back seasons in 2022 and 2023 and was The Messenger’s Defensive Player of the Year in both of those seasons. The pass rusher was also the Class 5A Lineman of the Year in 2022 and a finalist for the award again in 2023.

Grady compiled 87 tackles, 24 tackles-for-loss, 11 sacks, 22 quarterback hurries and an interception return for a touchdown in 2023. As a sophomore, he tallied 108 tackles, 37 tackles-for-loss, 22 sacks, three forced fumbles and three blocked field goals as the Trojans earned a state runner-up finish in 5A.
