Troy All-Stars win first round of Dixie Belles World Series

The Troy All-Stars traveled to Virginia on Saturday to compete in the Dixie Belles Softball World Series.  

In the first round, Troy – representing Alabama – defeated Winnsboro (Texas) by a score of 11-3 on Saturday. Charles Henderson’s Calleigh Compton went 2-for-2 at the plate with three RBIs and two runs. Pike Libe’s Yaley McLendon went 1-for-2 with a double and three RBIs.  

Pike Lib’s Mary Stephens pitched two innings and struck out a batter along with giving up two hits and two earned runs, while Ariton’s Beth Dixon also pitched two innings and struck out three batters. Dixon gave up no hits or runs. Defensively, Compton earned five putouts and one assist, while Pike County’s Hailey Griffin earned four putouts. Both Compton and Griffin earned a perfect fielding percentage.
